An Innovative Approach to Combat Transatlantic Human Trafficking
The world has more slaves today than ever before in history, a large number of them trafficked across borders against their will to be exploited in developed countries. Over the last few decades there has been increasing interest in the private sector’s connection to human rights and development. Governments, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), foundations, and institutions have been working to develop strategies to engage the private sector in development and human rights agendas. It is time for the private sector to take a leading role in the fight against human trafficking as well.
